Textile Certifications: What They Are and Why They Matter

Certificazioni Tessili: Cosa Sono e Perchè Contano

Textile certifications are the compass that helps us distinguish truly sustainable garments from those that are only superficially so. Each certification tells a story of commitment: protecting natural resources, fair working conditions, and a more responsible future for the planet. Some of the main certifications you'll find on our products, and that you should know about, are:

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
Ensures that at least 70% of the product's fibers are organic and that every production stage adheres to strict environmental and social criteria. Simply put, it means fewer harmful chemicals, more responsible resource management, and greater protection of workers' rights throughout the supply chain.

OEKO-TEX®
This certification ensures that every component of the garment has been tested for harmful substances to human health and the planet. This means you can wear the garment with the certainty that you will not come into contact with harmful chemical residues. OEKO-TEX protects not only the wearer, but also those who make the product and the environment in which it is produced, guaranteeing strict safety standards throughout the supply chain.

GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
The GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification is one of the most internationally recognized certifications for products made from recycled materials. In the textile sector, GRS ensures that a product contains at least 20% recycled materials, tracing the entire production process: from raw material to finished product.

FAIR TRADE
More than just a certification, it is a global movement that represents a commitment to social equity, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for human rights throughout the production chain. FAIR TRADE certified garments support local communities and promote fair trade, where value is not only economic, but also social and environmental.

PETA-APPROVED VEGAN
Issued by the animal rights organization PETA, it certifies that the product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, meaning it is completely free of animal-derived materials and no animal testing has been conducted at any stage of production.

Every time you choose a garment with one of these certifications, you're not just buying a product: you're making a conscious choice that protects the environment, promotes human rights, and reduces the impact on the planet.

At Teefarm, we are proud to promote and offer only garments that meet these standards, because we believe in fashion that is good for those who produce it, those who wear it, and the Earth that hosts us. 🌍💚
